Daystar is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Monetary and in-kind contributions to Daystar Life Center of Citrus County are eligible as federal tax deductions.

Through the years Black Diamond Foundation has helped Daystar in so many ways. With Black Diamond Foundation's help we were able to purchase a modular building that is used as our Social Services Office, two utility buildings for the sale of furniture and appliances from our Thrift Store, and a walk-in freezer, a new roof, three commercial refrigerators and an upright commercial freezer for our Food Pantry. A grant has also been given toward the eventual paving of our parking lot. After Hurricane Irma and during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation provided funds to Daystar to help low-income residents who fell behind in their utility bills and their rent.
In November 2019 we were awarded $15,200 by the Citrus County Hospital Board for a much-needed expansion of our Social Services Office, where we receive people seeking help and then provide services or referrals to services they need. We are in the process of procuring a modular building with that grant. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hospital Board also provided $10,000 to assist low-income residents with rent to prevent evictions or with utility bills to avoid disconnections.
For many years United Way has awarded grants that Daystar was able to use to purchase food for distribution through our Food Pantry and/or to assist eligible clients either with overdue rent or to secure housing for them. For 2017-2018 Daystar received $18,750 to help low-income households in Citrus County with food or with overdue housing and utility costs.
For years Daystar has received grants administered by United Way from two utility companies in order to provide financial help to their respective customers who are at risk of having electrical power shut off. We receive monies from the Duke Energy Neighbor Fund and from the SECO Energy Angel Fund for their low-income customers. United Way also administers the annual grants we receive from the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program, which we use for electric, water and/or rent assistance.May God bless you for blessing us with your support, so that we may help those in need.
A benefit to belonging to various networks is for service providers to become aware of funding opportunities. For several years Daystar was selected for grants from the Community Health Investment Fund of WellCare Health Plans.
Community networks also make it possible for trust funds and foundations to become aware of charitable organizations like Daystar. In recent years Daystar has been able to do more for people in need with the financial support we have received from the Joseph F. Bennett Sr. Trust. And we have also received substantial grant funding for four years from the Danny Joseph Longo Memorial Fund of the Columbus Foundation. Daystar Life Center values the trust and confidence that has been entrusted to our charitable mission by those who administer such funds in order to serve others in the loving memory of those who have passed before us.
